Skoda Auto India has ramped up anticipation for its upcoming 2026 Kushaq facelift, releasing a new teaser that highlights refreshed front and rear LED DRLs and an evocative Bollywood theme. The teaser, set in a picturesque mustard field reminiscent of the iconic film 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' (DDLJ), uses the tagline 'Get ready to fall in love' to connect emotionally with potential Indian buyers. The design updates include a sleek full-width LED DRL strip at the front, flanked by sharper LED elements, and a revised grille. At the rear, the SUV will feature illuminated 'SKODA' lettering integrated with a connected LED light bar, aligning its aesthetics with Skoda's latest global design language and giving it a more premium and wider stance.
The facelifted Kushaq is scheduled for an official unveiling or launch in India around January 19-20, 2026. This update is considered significant, moving beyond minor cosmetic changes to include substantial feature enhancements. Among the anticipated additions are a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround-view camera, rear disc brakes, improved air-conditioning performance, and updated infotainment and instrument cluster graphics. Critically, Skoda is also expected to equip the Kushaq facelift with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a feature becoming increasingly standard in its competitive segment.
Under the hood, the 2026 Kushaq facelift is likely to retain its existing 1.0L and 1.5L TSI turbo-petrol engines. While the 1.5L unit will continue with its 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG options, the 1.0L engine might receive a new 8-speed automatic gearbox in addition to the manual transmission. This comprehensive refresh is crucial for the Kushaq to strengthen its position against strong rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Sierra in India's highly competitive mid-size SUV market.
