Reaffirming the government's commitment to ensuring a life of dignity, security, and self-satisfaction for veterans, the Defence Minister pointed out concrete steps taken. These include the fulfillment of the long-standing demand for 'One Rank One Pension' (OROP) and the continuous strengthening of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) to expand health facilities to remote areas. Singh also paid tribute to the Indian Peacekeeping Force personnel who participated in Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka nearly four decades ago, acknowledging their courage and sacrifices that did not receive due recognition earlier. The event, observed nationwide on January 14, honors Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
