Hannspree has introduced the Lumo, a compact Android tablet designed to offer superior outdoor readability thanks to its Reflective LCD (rLCD) screen technology. Unlike traditional tablets that rely on backlights, the Lumo's display utilizes ambient light, making it clearer and more vivid in bright sunlight, akin to reading paper. This ecoVISION™ Display technology aims to reduce eye strain, eliminate blue light exposure, and provide a flicker-free, anti-glare viewing experience. The Hannspree Lumo bridges the gap between e-readers and conventional Android tablets, offering the eye-comfort of an e-reader alongside the versatility of a full Android 14 operating system with Google services support. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and features a 7.8-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. The tablet includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, with camera capabilities consisting of a 5MP front camera and an 8MP main camera. Weighing only 250g and with a thickness of 6.6mm, the Lumo is designed for portability and comfortable one-handed use. It houses a 3000mAh battery, providing an estimated 6.5 hours of runtime with the front light at maximum brightness. An optional pressure-sensitive stylus further enhances its functionality for note-taking and sketching. The Hannspree Lumo is currently available at European retailers for around €369. While its specifications might be considered basic for a typical Android tablet, its unique rLCD screen offers a compelling advantage for users prioritizing eye health and outdoor usability.
