CBSE Class 12 Results 2026 Declared; Girls Outperform Boys by 6.73%

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officially declared the much-awaited Class 12 board examination results for the year 2026 today, Wednesday, May 13, 2026. This marks the third consecutive year that the CBSE has announced its Class 12 results on May 13, maintaining a consistent trend in result declaration. Students who appeared for the examinations can access their scorecards and provisional mark sheets online through various official platforms, including cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in, cbseresults.nic.in, DigiLocker, and the UMANG app. This year, a total of 17,68,482 students registered for the CBSE Class 12 examinations, with 17,04,367 candidates appearing for the papers. Out of those who appeared, 15,40,934 students successfully cleared the board exams. The overall pass percentage for 2026 is recorded at 85.20%, which represents a notable decline of 3.19 percentage points compared to the 88.39% pass percentage achieved in 2025. This year's percentage is among the lowest recorded in recent years. A significant highlight of the 2026 results is the continued academic excellence of girl students, who once again outperformed boys. Girls achieved a pass percentage of 88.86%, while boys recorded 82.13%. This translates to a considerable gap of 6.73 percentage points, nearly 7%, between the performance of girls and boys. Furthermore, transgender candidates demonstrated exceptional performance, maintaining a 100% pass rate, consistent with the previous year. Despite the slight dip in the overall pass percentage, a substantial number of students achieved high scores. According to the CBSE data, 94,028 students secured above 90% marks, and an impressive 17,113 candidates scored more than 95% in their board examinations. The Delhi region showed a strong performance, registering an overall pass percentage of 91.97%. For the 2026 academic session, CBSE introduced a major procedural change by implementing on-screen marking for Class 12 answer sheets, moving away from the traditional physical checking system. The examinations for Class 12 were conducted from February 17 to April 10, 2026, with the results being published 52 days after the examinations concluded. Students can check their results by entering their roll number, school number, admit card ID, and date of birth on the official result portals. The provisional mark sheet available online should be downloaded and saved for future reference, especially for college admissions. The board also provides digitally verified mark sheets, migration certificates, and passing certificates through DigiLocker. Unlike previous years, the Central Board of Secondary Education has decided not to release a merit list of toppers for 2026. This decision aims to de-emphasize competitive pressure and promote a more holistic view of student performance. For students who have not successfully cleared all subjects, supplementary examinations are scheduled to be held on July 15, 2026, as a single-day exam. These examinations also cater to candidates who wish to improve their performance in one subject after passing, or previous year compartment candidates from 2025, offering a crucial opportunity for academic advancement. This year's Class 10 results were declared earlier, on April 15, 2026. The timely announcement of Class 12 results provides clarity for over 18 lakh students across the Science, Commerce, and Arts streams, allowing them to proceed with their higher education plans.
