External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar officially launched the BRICS India 2026 Logo, Theme, and Website in New Delhi on January 13, 2026, marking India's assumption of the BRICS presidency for its fourth term. The launch event highlighted India's vision for its chairship, which commenced on January 1, 2026.
The chosen theme for India's BRICS 2026 Chairship is "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability." This theme is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "humanity-first" and "people-centric" vision, aiming to address shared global challenges in a balanced and inclusive manner. The accompanying logo, selected through an open contest, prominently features India's national flower, the lotus, with the 'Namaste' gesture at its core. The petals of the lotus incorporate the vibrant colors of all BRICS member countries, symbolizing their collective strength, unity in diversity, and harmonious collaboration.
During his address, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability would be the guiding priorities across the three foundational pillars of BRICS: political and security, economic and financial, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges. He underscored BRICS' evolution over the past two decades into a significant platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing economies, responsive to changing global realities while maintaining a focus on people-centric development. The EAM also called for urgent reforms in global governance institutions to reflect contemporary realities.
The official BRICS India website, brics2026.gov.in, was also unveiled, designed to serve as a central platform for disseminating information on upcoming meetings, initiatives, and outcomes throughout India's presidency. India plans to host approximately 100 meetings across 60 cities, including key ministerial gatherings in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow, following a model similar to its successful G20 Presidency. BRICS now comprises 11 full member countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside several partner countries.
