Engineers India Limited (EIL), an Indian public sector undertaking, has secured a significant contract worth over $350 million (approximately ₹3,170 crore) with Nigeria's Dangote Group. This landmark agreement positions EIL as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) consultant for the ambitious expansion of the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex located in Lagos, Nigeria. The expansion project aims to substantially increase the refinery's capacity from its current 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) to an impressive 1.4 million bpd. Upon its completion, the Dangote Refinery complex is projected to become the world's largest single-location petroleum refinery, significantly boosting Nigeria's capability to produce Euro VI-grade fuels. Beyond crude oil processing, the project also includes the expansion of polypropylene production capacity from 830,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) to 2.4 million TPA, involving the installation of a new 1.2 million TPA polypropylene unit and a UOP Oleflex Unit. This contract marks a renewed partnership between EIL and the Dangote Group, as EIL had previously provided PMC and EPCM services for the initial phase of the Dangote Refinery, which was commissioned in 2024. The repeat order is a strong testament to Dangote Group's confidence in EIL's proven engineering expertise and ability to execute large-scale, complex projects globally. For Nigeria, this expansion is a critical step towards achieving energy self-sufficiency, reducing reliance on fuel imports, and establishing the nation as a leading regional hub for refined petroleum products and petrochemicals in Africa. For EIL, this mega-contract reinforces its strong position in the international engineering consultancy market and is expected to contribute significantly to its overseas revenue.
