Six-time world boxing champion and Olympic bronze medallist MC Mary Kom has recently made startling revelations regarding her divorce from husband Onler Kom. Speaking candidly on Rajat Sharma's 'Aap Ki Adalat' and in interviews with news agencies, Kom disclosed that her marriage, which lasted 18 years, ended due to alleged financial betrayal and emotional distress. The divorce was finalized on December 20, 2023, by mutual consent under Kom customary law, a fact she publicly confirmed in April 2025 amidst swirling rumors. Mary Kom alleged that Onler Kom did not contribute financially to their household, instead living off her earnings and even misusing her funds. She recounted instances where she discovered large sums, up to ₹10 lakhs, were withdrawn from her bank accounts without her knowledge, and loans were taken in her name. She also claimed that properties she acquired with her hard-earned money were mortgaged and transferred to his name. Kom stated that her career-ending injury before the 2022 Commonwealth Games proved to be a pivotal moment, leading her to realize she was "living a lie" and that her husband was not the man she believed him to be. While Mary Kom has openly shared her side, Onler Kom has denied all charges, stating he has not been involved in any wrongdoing. The couple shares four children, who, after the separation, chose to reside with Mary Kom. Mary Kom also categorically denied affair rumors with her business partner, clarifying that he came into her life post-divorce.
