Jodhpur: Kabaddi Player Manoj Bhadu Abducted, Beaten to Death

In a shocking incident that has drawn widespread attention in Rajasthan, a 26-year-old state-level kabaddi player, Manoj Bhadu, was allegedly abducted and brutally beaten to death by a large group of men in the Jodhpur district. Their Scorpio SUV was reportedly stopped by a group of approximately 20 to 25 men, who were traveling in four or five separate vehicles, around 9 PM under the Shivpura police station limits in Pali district. The assailants forcibly pulled Manoj out of his vehicle and abducted him in one of their own, while his two companions managed to escape from the scene. The abducted kabaddi player was then subjected to a brutal assault, reportedly taken to different locations and repeatedly thrashed with sticks and iron rods. He sustained severe injuries to his head, legs, and arms. The attackers eventually abandoned him, critically injured, near Lamba village in the neighboring Pali district. Villagers discovered Manoj in a critical state on Friday morning and promptly informed the police. He was initially rushed to a private hospital in Jodhpur and subsequently referred to Mathuradas Mathur (MDM) Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his extensive injuries during treatment. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the motive behind the gruesome murder stems from an old personal rivalry. It has been revealed that Manoj Bhadu had allegedly assaulted a youth named Mahendra in the past, and a case related to that incident was already registered at the Bilara police station. Investigators suspect that the accused individuals had been tracking Manoj for about eight to ten days, planning to seek revenge for the prior altercation. Additional Superintendent of Police (Jodhpur Rural) Bhopal Singh confirmed that several suspects from Jodhpur district involved in the incident have been identified, and multiple police teams are conducting raids to apprehend them. Shivpura Police Station Officer (SHO) Bhanwarlal Vishnoi stated that both the deceased and the accused belong to the Jodhpur district and that seven to eight persons were directly involved in the attack. Manoj Bhadu was not just an aspiring Physical Training Instructor (PTI) but also a recognized state-level kabaddi player, having represented Rajasthan in various competitions during 2017-18. He had completed his Bachelor of Education (BEd) from Udaipur in 2022 and was actively preparing for recruitment examinations for a PTI position, highlighting his dedication to sports and education. His untimely and violent death has left his family and the entire sports community in shock and grief. Following Manoj's death, his family members and numerous villagers gathered outside the mortuary of MDM Hospital, staging a protest. They vehemently demanded the immediate arrest of all those responsible for the heinous crime, refusing to allow the body to be moved until their demands were addressed. Manoj's brother, Aman, alleged that the two men who were accompanying Manoj had informed others about his movements, potentially leading to the attack.
