AWOL Vision has introduced its groundbreaking Aetherion Max and Aetherion Pro ultra-short-throw (UST) 4K projectors at CES 2026, marking what the company claims to be an industry-first achievement in home projection. These new models are touted as the first UST projectors capable of delivering a true, sharp 4K image at an unprecedented 200-inch screen size. This significant advancement addresses a long-standing technical challenge in the UST category, where maintaining 4K sharpness and pixel alignment at such large diagonals has been difficult due to extreme projection angles and complex optical paths. The innovation behind this capability is AWOL's proprietary PixelLock technology, an integrated optical, mechanical, and digital alignment system. PixelLock is designed to precisely fuse and synchronize every pixel across the image, actively preventing issues like color fringing, misalignment, and edge softness that typically worsen with larger UST projections. Both the Aetherion Max and Pro are built with RGB pure triple-laser light engines, offering impressive brightness levels of 3300 ISO lumens for the Max and 2600 ISO lumens for the Pro, alongside a 6000:1 native contrast ratio. They come equipped with advanced features catering to both cinematic experiences and next-generation gaming, including HDMI 2.1 support, variable refresh rate (VRR), auto low-latency mode (ALLM), and a remarkable 1ms-class input lag at 240Hz. Notably, these projectors also support Dolby Vision Gaming, a feature previously scarce in the projector market, promising enhanced tone mapping and image quality for console gaming. Smart functionalities are powered by Google TV, running on an MT9655 chipset with ample RAM and storage, and offering Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. The AWOL Aetherion Max and Pro are scheduled for a commercial release in March 2026, following an early-bird Kickstarter campaign in early February. US retail pricing is set at $4,499 for the Aetherion Max and $3,499 for the Aetherion Pro, with pricing and availability for other regions, including the UK and Australia, to be announced. This launch positions AWOL Vision as a significant player in the high-end home cinema and gaming projector market.
