The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has achieved a remarkable feat by setting four Guinness World Records during the construction of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G) in Andhra Pradesh. This accomplishment highlights India's advanced capabilities in highway engineering and execution. The records were achieved in two phases. The first two records were set on January 6, 2026, near Puttaparthi. These include the longest continuous laying of bituminous concrete, covering 28.89 lane kilometers (equivalent to a 3-lane wide 9.63 km section) within 24 hours. The second record was for laying the highest quantity of bituminous concrete, totaling 10,655 metric tonnes, in the same 24-hour period. Both these records were established as global firsts for a six-lane National Highway project. Building on this momentum, two additional Guinness World Records were created on January 11, 2026. These involved the continuous laying of an impressive 57,500 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete and continuous paving over a 156-lane kilometer stretch (a 3-lane wide 52 km section). This latest paving record surpassed the previous world record of 84.4 lane kilometers. The record-setting activities were executed across Package-2 and Package-3 of the corridor in collaboration with concessionaire M/s Rajpath Infracon Private Limited. The 343-km-long, access-controlled six-lane Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor is designed to provide safe, high-speed, and scenic travel, featuring 17 interchanges, 10 wayside amenities, and a 5.3 km tunnel. This achievement has been widely reported by major Indian news outlets, including Deccan Herald, The Times of India, The Hindu, News On AIR, and OpIndia, corroborating the claims and emphasizing its significance for India's infrastructure development.
