Legendary playback singer Kumar Sanu has shown immense compassion by reaching out to a fan from Bhopal (originally from Chhapra, Bihar, working in Nagpur) who attempted suicide multiple times due to a severe delusion. The 30-year-old (or 32-year-old in some reports) man developed a belief that fans of Kumar Sanu would kill him for listening to songs by other singers on social media reels, considering it a 'betrayal'. This irrational fear led him to attempt suicide twice within hours, first by slitting his wrist and throat at Jabalpur railway station, and then by jumping from the first floor of a government hospital where he was being treated. He had also reportedly tried to jump from a moving train earlier. Upon learning about the harrowing incident through a Times of India report, a shaken Kumar Sanu personally contacted consultant psychiatrist Dr. Satyakant Trivedi, who was treating the man. Sanu expressed deep concern for his fan's well-being and sought to understand psychosis and delusion in detail. He also spoke to the fan's father over the phone, conveying his sadness and offering words of support, while urging the family to stay strong and praying for the man's recovery. The fan, who is now stable and undergoing treatment for psychosis in a hospital in Patna, survived all attempts. Dr. Trivedi confirmed that Sanu's direct contact could aid in the fan's recovery. This incident highlights the critical need for mental health awareness and support, especially concerning extreme fandom.
