Bihar Police have recently dismantled a cybercrime gang operating in Nawada district, exposing a bizarre and elaborate fraud scheme known as the 'All India Pregnant Job' service. The gang lured unsuspecting men, particularly from vulnerable sections of society, with promises of substantial payments, often ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh, for impregnating childless women. Victims were also assured compensation of up to ₹50,000 even if their attempts were unsuccessful. To gain credibility and trap victims, the fraudsters operated under various deceptive names, including 'All India Pregnant Job,' 'Playboy Service,' and even posed as legitimate financial entities offering 'Dhani Finance' and 'SBI Cheap Loans.'
The modus operandi involved circulating misleading advertisements across social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. Once individuals expressed interest, they were asked to pay hefty registration fees and further charges for supposed hotel bookings, documentation, and medical formalities, ultimately siphoning off large sums of money. Many victims, reportedly due to embarrassment and fear of social stigma, hesitated to report the crime.
In the most recent action, Nawada police arrested two primary suspects, Ranjan Kumar and Devanandan Kumar, during a raid in Manwa village under Hisua police station. Authorities seized mobile phones and incriminating documents used in the fraudulent activities. Nawada Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman confirmed that the entire operation was fictitious, designed solely to extort money. This bust highlights an ongoing challenge, as Nawada has seen multiple similar cybercrime crackdowns in recent years, including incidents in January 2025 and December 2023, where gangs running analogous 'pregnant job' and fake loan scams were apprehended. The persistent nature of these scams underscores the need for increased public awareness and vigilance against such online frauds.
