Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently shared details about the challenging process of convincing actor Akshaye Khanna to join the cast of the highly successful film 'Dhurandhar'. Chhabra revealed that when he first proposed the role of Pakistani gangster Rehman Dakait to Khanna, the actor's initial reaction was a scolding. Khanna reportedly questioned Chhabra, asking, 'Paagal ho gaya hai kya?' (Have you gone crazy?). Adding to the difficulty, when asked to meet at the office, Khanna famously responded, 'Main toh yahan rehta hi nahi hoon. Bol kahan aana hai' (I don't even live here. Tell me where you want to meet me?). This candid revelation from Chhabra highlights Khanna's selective nature regarding his projects.
Despite the initial reluctance, Chhabra persisted, eventually convincing Khanna to listen to the script. Khanna drove himself to Aditya Dhar's office, where he sat for four hours, quietly listening and smoking. After the extensive narration, Khanna's doubts cleared, and he expressed his enthusiasm for the project, reportedly saying, 'F**k, it's very good. Bada maza aayega.' A few anxious days later, Khanna confirmed his participation with a simple call: 'Let's do it, bro.' Khanna's portrayal of Rehman Dakait has since become one of the most talked-about elements of 'Dhurandhar,' receiving widespread critical acclaim and contributing significantly to the film's record-breaking box office success. The film, released on December 5, 2025, also stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan, among others.
