Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, November 28, 2025, unveiled a 77-foot-tall bronze statue of Lord Ram in South Goa, marking a significant cultural and religious event in India. The grand statue was inaugurated at the historic Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt, as part of its 550th-year celebrations. This event highlights the Mutt's deep spiritual and cultural legacy within the Saraswat community and beyond.
The bronze edifice was crafted by acclaimed sculptor Ram V. Sutar, renowned for his work on the iconic Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Goa's Public Works Department minister, Digambar Kamat, stated that this is considered the tallest Lord Ram statue in the world. During his visit, PM Modi also inaugurated a 'Ramayana Theme Park' developed by the Mutt and released a special commemorative postal stamp and coin. He addressed a large gathering, emphasizing India's ongoing "cultural renaissance" and the interconnectedness of cultural identity with national development. Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant were present at the ceremony, which drew substantial public attention. The unveiling and associated events, spanning from November 27 to December 7, are expected to attract over 1.2 lakh people.
