Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that drone intrusions along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) are "unacceptable" and must be reined in. He confirmed that the matter was discussed with Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) during recent talks. Dwivedi disclosed that multiple suspected Pakistani drones were sighted in early January 2026, which he believes were defensive, aimed at reconnaissance or identifying potential infiltration gaps. The Army Chief also provided extensive insights into 'Operation Sindoor', confirming it remains an ongoing operation and any future misadventure by Pakistan would be met with a firm response. He described two critical "turning points" during the operation in May 2025. The first was a precise 22-minute strike on terrorist targets which severely disrupted Pakistan's decision-making cycle. The second turning point occurred on May 10, 2025, when India's tri-services (Army, Navy, and Air Force) were given directives for a potential escalation. Pakistan, monitoring Indian movements via satellites, understood the gravity and sought to de-escalate the conflict by contacting India's DGMO. General Dwivedi further revealed that eight terror camps, housing an estimated 100 to 150 terrorists, are still active across the LoC and IB on the Pakistani side. He emphasized India's readiness for ground operations if the conflict had escalated during 'Operation Sindoor'. Additionally, he advocated for the urgent creation of a dedicated rocket-cum-missile force in India to enhance combat effectiveness, citing similar forces established by China and Pakistan. The situation along the western front and in Jammu and Kashmir remains sensitive but firmly under control.
