Samsung Display has unveiled a significant advancement in foldable screen technology at CES 2026, showcasing a new OLED panel that appears completely crease-free. This innovative display virtually eliminates the visible fold line that has been a persistent criticism of existing foldable smartphones, marking a potential turning point for the segment. The prototype, demonstrated at the global tech exhibition, featured a remarkably smooth surface, with the crease becoming "convincingly invisible under normal viewing conditions." Samsung Display even set up a dedicated "crease test" area, placing the new panel alongside a Galaxy Z Fold 7 to highlight the substantial improvement in crease reduction. The technology behind this achievement reportedly involves a laser-drilled metal display plate, which effectively distributes stress during the folding process, preventing the formation of a permanent crease.
