A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped in Kanpur's Sachendi area by a local YouTuber, Shivbaran Yadav, and a police sub-inspector, Amit Kumar Maurya. The incident, which reportedly occurred on Monday night, came to light after a video of the victim accusing the police of inaction went viral. Yadav has been arrested, while Maurya is currently absconding, with police forming multiple teams to apprehend him. The victim, a Class 7 dropout, was allegedly abducted in a Mahindra Scorpio and taken to a deserted spot near a railway track where she was sexually assaulted for approximately two hours before being abandoned outside her home in an unconscious state. The case has triggered significant administrative action, with Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal removing Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi and suspending Sachendi Station House Officer (SHO) Vikram Singh for alleged lapses and distortion of facts. The victim's family has alleged a cover-up by local police, claiming they were initially turned away when they mentioned a policeman's involvement and that her mobile phone was seized. The FIR has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the investigation is being conducted with transparency, with promises of strict action against all guilty parties. The incident has also sparked political outrage, with former CPI(M) MP Subhashini Ali condemning the alleged impunity in crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh. The SUV used in the crime, registered in Maurya's name, has been seized. Investigations revealed that Maurya was present in Sachendi during the incident, despite being officially posted at the Bithoor Police Station.
