CBSE Class 10 Results 2026 Declared: 93.70% Pass, Girls Lead

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officially declared the Class 10 board examination results for the academic year 2025-26 today, April 15, 2026. This announcement, made nearly a month ahead of the usual mid-May schedule, brings clarity to over 24.7 lakh students who appeared for the examinations. The overall pass percentage for CBSE Class 10 in 2026 stands at an impressive 93.70%, reflecting a marginal but positive increase of 0.04% compared to the 93.66% recorded in 2025. Continuing a consistent academic trend, girls once again significantly outperformed boys in the 2026 results. Girls achieved a pass percentage of 94.99%, while boys recorded 92.69%. This slight difference in performance highlights the sustained academic excellence of female students. In a notable change from the previous year, the pass percentage for transgender candidates saw a dip, recording 87.50% in 2026 compared to 95.00% in 2025. Region-wise performance data indicates a continued dominance by southern CBSE regions. Trivandrum and Vijayawada jointly secured the highest pass percentage, both at 99.79%, mirroring their top performance in 2025. They were closely followed by Chennai at 99.58% and Bengaluru at 98.91%. The Delhi region also performed above the national average, with a combined pass percentage of 97.38%, specifically 97.45% for Delhi West and 97.33% for Delhi East. Guwahati registered the lowest pass percentage at 85.32%. Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) maintained their strong institutional performance, with KVs recording 99.57% and JNVs at 99.42%. Independent schools achieved a pass rate of 93.77%. The early declaration of results, nearly a month ahead of schedule, has been attributed by education officials to large-scale digitisation and a streamlined evaluation process involving approximately 7 lakh evaluators who assessed over 1.63 crore answer sheets in record time. This efficient process aimed to provide students with more time for admissions and preparation for future academic pursuits. Additionally, results are readily available on government-backed mobile applications such as DigiLocker and UMANG, providing convenient access to digital marksheets and certificates. Students need their roll number, school number, and admit card ID to log in and view their scores. For those without internet access, an SMS facility is also available. In line with its policy since 2020, CBSE has not released an official merit list or declared any toppers for the Class 10 examinations. This decision aims to reduce academic stress and discourage unhealthy competition among students. Instead, merit certificates will be issued to the top 0.1% of students in each subject. Following the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE introduced a provision for students to appear in a second Board examination to improve their performance in up to three subjects. This improvement exam is scheduled to be conducted from May 15 to June 1, 2026. Approximately 1.47 lakh students have been placed in the compartment category this year, accounting for 5.95% of the total students, a marginal change from 5.96% in 2025. The facility for verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of answer sheets, and re-evaluation will also be made available, with specific application windows and fees. The results of the 2026 Class 10 exams will be crucial for students as they proceed with their Class 11 admissions and stream selection. The board has indicated a correction window for the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Second Board Examination from April 16 to April 20, 2026.
