Preliminary inquiries revealed that the four juveniles, all residents of Nemili near Tiruttani, were intoxicated during the assault. The victim was reportedly attacked after an altercation on a train bound for Tiruttani, where he objected to the minors filming reels with knives. He was then dragged to a secluded area near the railway quarters and severely attacked as he resisted. Suraj sustained multiple cut injuries and was initially given first aid at a local hospital before being shifted to Tiruvallur Government Hospital for further treatment. The Tiruttani police registered a case based on a complaint and launched an investigation, examining surveillance footage and the assailants' video clips. The accused were subsequently produced before authorities and sent to the Chengalpattu Government Observation Home.
